Evidence and independence

Editorial and research methodology

What earns a place on the site, what the evidence can prove, and where the commercial relationship fits.

Reviewed by Cody, Business Internet Advisor Published Last reviewed Editorial methodology

This is how pages are selected, researched, reviewed, priced, corrected, and kept separate from the commercial relationship that funds the service.

How carriers are selected

A carrier is included when its own material, a public authority, a network operator, or an address-level serviceability system supports a meaningful presence in the market. A statewide license or a national sales claim is not enough by itself. City shortlists are editorial comparisons, not claims that every listed carrier serves every building.

Ownership changes and disputed claims

Announcements, regulatory approvals, and completed transactions are three different states. Pages say which one the evidence supports and preserve the old name where a customer may still encounter it. When reliable sources conflict, the uncertainty is stated instead of resolved by guesswork.

How prices are sourced and refreshed

Published ranges come from the price sheet used in actual quoting and are applied to every generated state, city, and pricing page from one source. They describe typical monthly service at an already-lit building, not an address-level offer. Construction, term, competition, product guarantees, and carrier channel can change the final number.

The current normalized data is published in the Business Fiber Pricing Report with a downloadable CSV and its assumptions.

Why a map cannot prove business serviceability

The FCC map and carrier maps are useful market-level evidence. They primarily reflect provider-reported mass-market availability and do not establish whether enterprise fiber is terminated in a specific building, whether a suite can use an existing riser, or what construction a dedicated circuit requires. The exact address, suite, product, and bandwidth must be checked with each carrier.

How commissions work

Carriers may compensate the advisor when a customer orders through the service. No fee is added to the carrier's price for using this site, commission rates are not assumed to be identical, and carriers cannot buy rankings or editorial placement. Recommendations begin with address-level serviceability and the customer's technical and commercial requirements.

Review dates, citations, and corrections

Published and last-reviewed dates are visible on pages with provider, pricing, technical, industry, or local-market claims. Dates change only when the page or its shared source material receives a material review. Primary carrier, municipal, state, FCC, and NTIA material is preferred; analysis is labeled as analysis, and a market-level citation never becomes a building-level claim.

Corrections can be sent to advisor@businessinternetlocator.com. Include the affected URL and the primary source supporting the change.
