AT&T holds incumbent territory here through the Southwestern Bell footprint and has the widest last mile reach in the city. Cox is the cable operator across the metro and sells fiber to a subset of addresses alongside the coax tiers. KsFiberNet is headquartered in Wichita and IdeaTek builds all fiber across this part of the state, which gives the metro a Kansas owned layer that the Kansas City suburbs do not have. Zayo and Cogent matter in carrier dense buildings and not much anywhere else.

- The older industrial stock in south and east Wichita varies a lot. Fiber at the property line is not fiber in your building, and the gap can be a construction charge.
- Newer development along the north and east edges of the metro generally went in with conduit and is the easier part of the city to serve.
