Ohio is AT&T incumbent territory through The Ohio Bell Telephone Company, which became an Ameritech subsidiary in 1984 and carries the AT&T name today. That covers Columbus, Cleveland, Toledo, Akron, Dayton, Canton and Youngstown, and it gives AT&T the widest last mile reach of any carrier in the state. The exception matters: Greater Cincinnati is altafiber territory, not AT&T's, so a Cincinnati address is an off-net question for AT&T rather than an incumbent one.

What to watch for before you sign
- Footprint is highly regional. Outside AT&T's incumbent states, delivery is often over another carrier's last mile.
- Off-net delivery changes who actually fixes a fault. Ask before signing.
- AT&T bought Lumen's consumer fiber network in eleven states in February 2026, Denver and Las Vegas among them. That is mass market fiber, not enterprise, so it widens where AT&T can sell a small office a subscription without changing where it can sell a dedicated circuit.
