Verizon's Ohio position changed completely on 20 January 2026, when it closed its 20 billion dollar acquisition of Frontier Communications. Frontier held real Ohio exchanges, so Verizon went from having no Ohio last mile to holding inherited territory here in one transaction. Elsewhere in the state it sells dedicated internet over another carrier's last mile, as it always did, and its strongest case remains a national contract that happens to include Ohio sites.
