Cable and fiber carrier guide

Cox Business Internet

The business arm of Cox Communications, selling cable based internet widely inside its franchise areas and fiber to a subset of the buildings within them.

Reviewed by Cody, Business Internet Advisor Published Last reviewed Editorial methodology

We cover Cox Business in 5 states: Iowa, Nevada, Kansas, Arkansas and Arizona. It holds cable franchises in parts of each rather than the whole of any of them, and the franchise map is not contiguous, so the only thing that settles whether Cox Business can serve you is a check against your exact address.

This page is the national picture: what the products actually are, what they cost, and what to check before signing. The state sections below carry the local footprint and each market's own pricing.

Cox Business internet plans: cable, business fiber and dedicated fiber

Start with the connection type, then the speed. Cox's national small business page lists 500 Mbps, 1 Gbps and 2 Gbps. Its Tustin local page also lists Business Internet 300 and the asymmetrical upload speeds below. These are published configurations, not a promise that every tier is sold at your address.

ProductDownload / uploadWhat to buy it for
Business Internet 300Up to 300 / 30 MbpsEveryday office browsing and email
Business Internet 500Up to 500 / 35 MbpsMore simultaneous downloads
Business Internet 1GbpsUp to 1 Gbps / 35 MbpsDownload-heavy teams; little extra upload headroom
Business Internet 2GbpsUp to 2 Gbps / 35 MbpsMore download capacity; the same published upload ceiling
Cox Business Fiber InternetSymmetrical, up to 2 GbpsFrequent uploads and video meetings; confirm the fiber offer separately
Dedicated Internet AccessSymmetrical, up to 400 Gbps; custom quoteCritical applications that need reserved bandwidth and contractual performance

Cable Business Internet shares capacity. The four asymmetrical configurations above come from Cox's local page. Static IPs are available; confirm the quantity and charge. That page advertises a four-hour SLA without defining its remedy. Ask for the service agreement before treating it as a repair guarantee.

Business Fiber Internet is a separate product from Dedicated Internet Access. Cox advertises symmetrical fiber and uptime SLAs, but the pages reviewed do not give a complete fiber speed ladder, static IP allowance or numerical uptime commitment. Have Cox put those terms on the quote.

Dedicated Internet Access reserves bandwidth and offers fixed or burstable billing. Cox's current dedicated page publishes the ceiling, not individual speed steps or a numerical SLA. The older Optical Internet brief describes performance credits and IP addressing subject to policy. Get the current static IP allocation, SLA and credit terms in writing. A site survey or custom build may be needed.

The use cases here are buying guidance. The typical state prices below are market benchmarks, not prices for these Cox plans.

Cox Business in Iowa

Cox's Iowa presence is Council Bluffs, hanging off the Omaha network. Cable based service covers most of the city and fiber reaches a minority of addresses, and those two products are nothing like each other despite sharing a brand.

  • Widely available across Council Bluffs on cable plant, so something can usually be installed quickly.
  • Fiber reaches a fraction of Council Bluffs addresses. Do not infer it from the brand.
  • Cox also owns Segra, which broadens what the group can reach in the wider region.
  • Local field technicians, with a four hour service level commitment on business internet.

Best fit. Council Bluffs businesses that need service quickly, with fiber worth checking for separately.

Cox Business in Nevada

Cox is the cable operator across the Las Vegas valley and one of the largest private non-gaming companies in the state. It is a genuine first choice here rather than a fallback, and through Cox Business and Hospitality Network it does a large share of the connectivity work behind the convention, arena and resort business. Its Nevada footprint is southern Nevada. Reno, Sparks and Carson City are Charter's.

  • Very broad coverage across Las Vegas, Henderson and North Las Vegas on the cable plant, so something can usually be installed quickly.
  • Fiber reaches a subset of addresses, sold with dedicated service and a real SLA. That is a different product from the advertised business tiers.
  • Hospitality Network is the arm that does convention space, arenas and resort properties, and it holds a Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority contract announced in April 2024.
  • Announced an 8.1 million dollar fiber build into Laughlin and Cal-Nev-Ari in December 2025, which is the kind of southern Clark County extension worth re-checking for.
  • Confirm which product you are being quoted. The advertised speeds are asymmetrical coax. Ask for the fiber product by name if upload matters.

Best fit. Las Vegas valley businesses that need service quickly, and anything involving convention, arena or resort space.

Cox Business in Kansas

Cox holds the cable franchise across Wichita, Topeka, Manhattan and Junction City, which makes it the main alternative to the incumbent telco in those markets. It is not the cable operator in the Kansas City suburbs, which are Charter's, and it is not in Lawrence, which is Midco's. Like every cable operator it sells two very different products under one name.

  • Wichita, Topeka, Manhattan and Junction City. If you are buying for Overland Park or Olathe this is the wrong page.
  • Broad coverage on cable plant inside those franchise areas, so something can usually be installed quickly.
  • Fiber reaches a subset of addresses, sold with dedicated service and a real SLA. That is a different product from the advertised business tiers.
  • Cox also owns Segra, which broadens what the group can reach across the wider region.
  • Local field technicians, with a four hour service level commitment on business internet.

Best fit. Wichita, Topeka and Manhattan businesses that need service quickly, with fiber worth checking for separately.

Cox Business in Arkansas

Cox holds the cable franchise across Northwest Arkansas and Fort Smith, with regional offices in Springdale, Bentonville, Rogers, Siloam Springs and Harrison. That makes it the main alternative to the incumbent telco in the western half of the state. It is not the cable operator in central Arkansas, which is Comcast's, or in Jonesboro, which is Optimum's.

  • Northwest Arkansas and Fort Smith. If you are buying for Little Rock or Jonesboro, this is the wrong page.
  • Broad coverage on cable plant inside the franchise area, so something can usually be installed quickly.
  • Fiber reaches a subset of addresses, sold with dedicated service and a real SLA. That is a different product from the advertised business tiers.
  • Local field technicians and offices across the region, with a four hour service level commitment on business internet.
  • Charter agreed to buy Cox in May 2025 and the deal had not closed as of August 2026. Check whose name is on the contract you sign.

Best fit. Northwest Arkansas and Fort Smith businesses that need service quickly, with fiber worth checking for separately.

Cox Business in Arizona

Cox is the dominant cable operator in Arizona and Phoenix is one of its flagship markets, which makes it a genuine first choice here rather than a fallback. Its enterprise fiber product is dedicated, symmetrical and sold with a real service level agreement, up to very high capacities, and it is a different thing from the advertised cable business tiers. Charter agreed to buy Cox in May 2025 and the FCC approved it on 27 February 2026, with Arizona entities named explicitly, but the transaction had not completed as of August 2026.

  • Very broad coverage across the Phoenix valley and Tucson on the cable plant, so something can usually be installed quickly.
  • Cox sells genuine dedicated fiber with symmetrical speeds and an SLA alongside the shared cable tiers. Ask for the dedicated product by name, because the two are not comparable.
  • The advertised business tiers are asymmetrical and shared. Check the upload figure rather than the headline speed.
  • Charter's acquisition was approved by the FCC on 27 February 2026 and had not closed as of August 2026, with California regulatory action scheduled for 13 August. Ask who the counterparty is before signing a long term.
  • Charter is being renamed Cox Communications, so the Cox name continuing on your bill will not tell you whether ownership changed.

Best fit. Phoenix and Tucson businesses that need service quickly, and anyone wanting dedicated fiber with an SLA from the cable operator.

What Cox business internet costs

Cox Business advertises business internet offers, but an offer is not a dedicated fiber quote. The table below shows typical market prices at a building that is already lit, whichever carrier serves it. It is not a rate card for the plans above. Use it to judge an address-specific quote.

State1 Gbps dedicated, monthly1 Gbps business fiber broadband, monthly
Iowaapproximately $680approximately $400
Nevadaapproximately $680approximately $400
Kansasapproximately $577approximately $400
Arkansasapproximately $680approximately $400
Arizonaapproximately $680approximately $400

Every bandwidth tier, not just 1 Gbps, is in each state's section above: Iowa, Nevada, Kansas, Arkansas, Arizona.

Cox Business: common questions

How much does Cox business internet cost?

Cox Business publishes promotional offers, while dedicated internet needs an address-specific quote. These are typical market prices, not a carrier rate card. Across the 5 states we cover, a building that is already lit typically pays between $100 and $2,500 a month depending on the speed and whether it is shared broadband or dedicated internet. Construction, contract term and which carriers reach the building move the real number more than the carrier's name does.

Which states does Cox Business serve?

We cover Cox Business in Iowa, Nevada, Kansas, Arkansas and Arizona. Cox Business holds cable franchises in parts of each rather than the whole state, and the franchise map is not contiguous, so the state section above is the place to check whether your city is inside it.

Is Cox Business cable or fiber?

Both. Cable broadband, business fiber and dedicated fiber can have different upload speeds and service terms. Read the product comparison above, and ask for the exact connection type, upload speed and SLA on your quote. A fiber label alone does not establish dedicated capacity.

Is Cox Business the cheapest option?

Sometimes, and it depends almost entirely on whether your building is already on their network. A carrier who is already in the building will normally beat a carrier who has to build, regardless of list pricing.

Can I buy Cox Business through you at the same price?

Yes. Pricing is the same as going direct. The difference is that you get every other carrier's number at the same time, and you are not managing the process yourself.

Check Cox Business availability at your address

We will confirm whether Cox Business can serve you, and quote every other carrier that can reach the building at the same time.

Free. No obligation. We do not sell your details to carriers, and nobody calls you until you say so. Privacy details.
