The business arm of Cox Communications, selling cable based internet widely inside its franchise areas and fiber to a subset of the buildings within them.
Cox is the cable operator across the Las Vegas valley and one of the largest private non-gaming companies in the state. It is a genuine first choice here rather than a fallback, and through Cox Business and Hospitality Network it does a large share of the connectivity work behind the convention, arena and resort business. Its Nevada footprint is southern Nevada. Reno, Sparks and Carson City are Charter's.
Where Cox Business is strong
- Broad coverage on the cable plant inside a franchise area, so something is usually available quickly
- Fiber available to a subset of addresses, with dedicated service and a real SLA
- Local field technicians and a four hour service level commitment on business internet
- Also owns Segra and RapidScale, which broadens what the group can sell alongside the circuit
Cox Business in Nevada specifically
- Very broad coverage across Las Vegas, Henderson and North Las Vegas on the cable plant, so something can usually be installed quickly.
- Fiber reaches a subset of addresses, sold with dedicated service and a real SLA. That is a different product from the advertised business tiers.
- Hospitality Network is the arm that does convention space, arenas and resort properties, and it holds a Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority contract announced in April 2024.
- Announced an 8.1 million dollar fiber build into Laughlin and Cal-Nev-Ari in December 2025, which is the kind of southern Clark County extension worth re-checking for.
- Charter agreed to buy Cox in May 2025 and the deal had not closed as of August 2026. Ask which entity is contracting.
- Confirm which product you are being quoted. The advertised speeds are asymmetrical coax. Ask for the fiber product by name if upload matters.
Best fit. Las Vegas valley businesses that need service quickly, and anything involving convention, arena or resort space.
What to watch for before you sign
- Cable and fiber are very different products under one brand. Cable is shared and asymmetrical.
- Fiber reaches a minority of addresses in most Cox markets. Do not assume it from the brand alone.
- The franchise map is the footprint, and it is not contiguous. Cox territory stops where another operator's begins, often at a county line.
- Charter agreed to buy Cox on 16 May 2025. The FCC cleared it in late February 2026, the DOJ cleared it, and it had still not closed as of August 2026 with California outstanding. Check whose name is on the contract you sign.
